instead by a way of being. Happiness, for Aristotle, is an
activity of the soul and in accordance with virtue. This

and suggests that happiness is not reducible to pleasure,
and that happy people are those who demonstrate virtue and

both ancient and not, the wisest of all of these was
Aristotle. The philosophic renderings of Aristotle with
his formal logic and use of syllogism were further proof
that these were not just scholarly ramblings. Aristotle
was a philosopher of the highest order, and his words are
ranked up there with not only other philosophers but with
